The Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central, Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A Plus, has unveiled plans to construct a waterfall in the constituency by next year as part of efforts to promote tourism and stimulate the local economy.
Speaking to Joy Prime on the sidelines of the Gomoa Easter Carnival, he said the project is part of a broader vision to transform Gomoa Central into a vibrant tourism destination.
According to him, the initiative is inspired by global tourism attractions and the potential to replicate similar experiences locally.
“People travel abroad to see artificial attractions, including waterfalls, and we can create the same here in Gomoa,” he said, adding that the proposed project will be a major highlight of future editions of the carnival.
A Plus noted that the development is aimed at driving economic activity through tourism-led growth, creating opportunities for businesses and residents in the constituency.
The Gomoa Easter Carnival, a four-day event running from April 2 to April 5, 2026, features activities such as bonfire nights, art exhibitions, food bazaars, masquerades, and a grand durbar of chiefs. The festival is designed to showcase the cultural heritage of the Gomoa people while supporting local enterprise.
The event also includes performances by leading Ghanaian artistes such as Kwabena Kwabena, Ofori Amponsah, Kofi Kinaata, Kuami Eugene, Samini, and Shatta Wale, alongside a wide range of other performers including Sarkodie and Obrafuor.
Organised as an initiative of A Plus in partnership with the Multimedia Group Limited, the festival forms part of a larger strategy to position Gomoa as a key cultural and tourism hub in Ghana.
