Three Ghanaian entrepreneurs have gained international recognition after their AI governance platform, Human In The Loop, won the People’s Voice Award for Best Responsible AI Implementation at the Webby Awards in New York.
Founded by Kwaw Fletcher Frimpong, Dominic Damoah, and Phelimon Hini, the platform emerged from over 13,000 entries across 70 countries. The award was determined through public voting, with more than 940,000 participants casting over 4.6 million votes.
Human In The Loop focuses on strengthening accountability in artificial intelligence by integrating human oversight into automated decision-making systems. It is designed to address concerns around bias, transparency, and explainability as AI adoption expands across sectors.
The platform is being applied in healthcare, finance, public administration, and technology, enabling organisations to validate AI-driven decisions, enhance compliance, and ensure auditability.
The Webby Awards, often described as a leading global benchmark for digital innovation, recognised the platform’s contribution to responsible AI development. Other honourees this year included Google, Anthropic, and Waymo.
The win highlights the growing influence of African-led innovation in shaping global standards for ethical and accountable artificial intelligence.
