Adamus CEO Denies Illegal Mining Allegations, Submits Evidence in Bid to Reverse Lease Revocation

The Chief Executive Officer of Adamus Resources Limited, Angela List, has rejected allegations linking the company to illegal mining, maintaining that the firm has consistently operated as a responsible large-scale mining entity with no involvement in galamsey activities.

Speaking after presenting a petition to the government on Thursday, April 30, Ms List stated that the company had submitted extensive documentary evidence to counter claims raised by the Minerals Commission. She expressed confidence that the materials would be fairly assessed as part of the ongoing review process.

According to her, Adamus Resources has historically taken proactive steps to combat illegal mining within its operational areas, rather than engage in such practices. She emphasised that, as a licensed mining leaseholder, the company has no incentive to participate in unlawful activities and does not condone them.

Her remarks follow the government’s decision to revoke the company’s mining lease after findings of alleged regulatory breaches, including illegal mining, environmental infractions, and unauthorised subcontracting.

In response to the revocation, the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources constituted a ministerial committee to review the company’s petition for reconsideration. An interim management team has also been deployed to oversee operations at the mine during the review period.

Ms List described the situation as regrettable but reiterated the company’s commitment to due process. She expressed optimism that the evidence presented would be evaluated objectively and in accordance with established legal procedures.

She further conveyed appreciation to the company’s workforce, financial partners, and other stakeholders for their continued support, commending staff for their resilience amid the uncertainty.

The CEO also acknowledged the roles of the President and the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, noting that the company has been afforded an opportunity to present its case.

Ms List reaffirmed Adamus Resources’ willingness to cooperate fully with any supervisory mechanisms instituted by the government as the review process progresses.
