A section of the Electricity Company of Ghana’s (ECG) Achimota Bulk Supply Point Station ‘H’ has been gutted by fire.

According to information available to Ghanaian RADAR, the incident occurred around 11:00 a.m., on Sunday, May 3, 2025 after an explosion was heard by people in the compound.

“The Earthen Transformer ‘2’ at the supply point has been damaged, along with several other components,” reports said. The cause of the fire and explosion is yet to be determined.

Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service have since managed to douse the flames, preventing further damage. However, the incident is expected to affect electricity supply to areas served by the affected bulk supply point.

Residents of Adenta, Madina, Legon, 37, Kanda, and parts of Achimota may experience disruptions to their power supply. ECG and relevant authorities are likely to conduct repairs and restoration work to minimize the impact on affected communities.
