A 29-year-old farmer from Awoma in the Jasikan Municipality of the Oti Region is recovering after surgeons at the 37 Military Hospital in Accra successfully removed a motorbike key that had become lodged in his skull.
Moro Razak sustained the injury on Tuesday, 21 July 2026, after he reportedly intervened to stop a fight between two young men at Amenyo, a nearby farming community, according to the Ghana News Agency (GNA).
The two men had reportedly travelled from Bodada to Amenyo to gamble when a dispute broke out. Razak is said to have stepped in to separate them before he was allegedly stabbed with a motorbike key, which became embedded in his skull.
He was initially treated at the Jasikan Municipal Hospital before being referred to the 37 Military Hospital after doctors determined he required specialised care.
Razak’s uncle, Moro Alhassan, said surgeons successfully removed the key during an operation carried out on Sunday, 26 July.
“The operation was successful, and Razak is recovering well by the grace of Allah,” he said.
Mr Alhassan commended the medical team at the 37 Military Hospital for successfully carrying out the procedure and thanked members of the public for their prayers and support following the incident.
He appealed for continued prayers for Razak’s full recovery as he remains under medical observation.
The incident has shocked residents of Awoma, Amenyo and surrounding communities, with many describing it as a tragic escalation of a dispute.
