The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology has alerted new applicants and their guardians to steer clear of fraudsters posing as admission and hostel facilitators.
Management said in a notice released Thursday, September 17, that it has spotted a surge in fake social media pages, WhatsApp forums, and websites pretending to act on behalf of the school regarding placements and housing.
According to the university, no outsider or unofficial page has its backing to handle entries, charges, or bed allocations.
Students are therefore advised to disregard anyone promising guaranteed slots or rooms for a fee.
It cautioned applicants against transferring cash or disclosing login details, PINs, and private records to self-acclaimed KNUST representatives.
The school emphasized that portal usernames and passwords are strictly private and should never be handed to another person.
For credible updates, KNUST directed the public to its main site, knust.edu.gh. Enquiries can be made via 024 013 0946, 020 133 2812, or 054 020 6262. Its verified WhatsApp line is 024 013 0946, with Telegram on 050 048 2807.
The institution noted that sticking to these approved contacts remains the safest way to dodge tricksters preying on desperate freshers.
