The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Afro-Arab Properties, Alhaji Salamu Amadu, has pledged to support President John Dramani Mahama’s housing vision, expressing his readiness to help accelerate the delivery of affordable homes across Ghana.
The commitment was made during the just-ended National Homeownership Conference when President Dramani Mahama visited the Afro-Arab Properties exhibition booth.
During the interaction, Alhaji Salamu Amadu told the President that his company was prepared to contribute to efforts to expand access to decent and affordable housing, in line with the President’s ambition to be known as “John the Builder”.
The Afro-Arab Properties CEO disclosed that the company has a long-term vision to develop 200,000 affordable and sustainable homes across Ghana by 2050. He said the target could be achieved more quickly through collaboration between private developers and the government’s district housing programme.
“Mr. President, if your wish is to become John the Builder, I am ready to help you build. Afro-Arab Properties has a vision to build 200,000 homes across Ghana by 2050. With the Government’s district housing programme and the right partnership between government and the private sector, I believe we can achieve this vision much faster,” Alhaji Salamu Amadu said.
He explained that combining Afro-Arab Properties’ affordable housing model with the district housing initiative could create opportunities to increase the supply of decent homes for ordinary Ghanaians.
A key feature of the company’s housing model is its low-entry payment structure, designed to make homeownership more accessible to working people. Under the model, eligible buyers can make a minimum down payment and pay the remaining balance over five years without interest, subject to the terms of the specific housing project.
Alhaji Salamu Amadu believes this approach could help address one of Ghana’s major housing challenges: the difficulty many families face in raising large lump-sum payments or qualifying for traditional mortgage financing.
With its target of 200,000 homes by 2050, Afro-Arab Properties says it is prepared to engage government, financial institutions, development partners and other private-sector stakeholders to explore opportunities to accelerate affordable housing delivery across the country.
The company’s broader vision is captured in its slogan, “Everyone Can Buy a House,” reflecting its commitment to making homeownership more accessible to Ghanaians.
Afro-Arab Properties also promotes environmentally responsible housing development under its philosophy, “Afro-Arab is Green.”
