The Finance Minister, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, has acknowledged the significant difficulties Ghana faces in managing its economy in 2025, describing it as a particularly tough year for the country’s economic team. Despite these challenges, Dr. Forson emphasized that the economic management team remains focused and committed to navigating the economic complexities.
“This year has been difficult; maybe we are not saying it. It has been difficult for us, the economic managers,” Dr. Forson said in a Joy FM interview. “It’s only that we’re focused and we are dealing with the situations.”
The Minister’s comments come as the Mahama-led administration continues efforts to stabilize the economy, improve public financial management, and build on recent gains in key macroeconomic indicators. Dr. Forson recently presented the 2025 Mid-Year Budget Statement to Parliament, outlining a range of fiscal and structural reforms aimed at reinvigorating growth and enhancing the country’s economic resilience.
Despite the ongoing hardships, Dr. Ato Forson reiterated the government’s resolve to steer the nation toward recovery and long-term stability, underscoring the administration’s commitment to addressing Ghana’s economic challenges.
