The Ashanti Regional Security Council (REGSEC) has implemented an immediate ban on motorbikes after 7:00 pm across the region to restore calm following the fatal shooting of Alhaji Abdul-Malik Azenbge, Chief of Kusaase. The directive, announced by Regional Minister Dr. Frank Amoakohene, aims to prevent further escalation and ensure public safety.

REGSEC’s emergency measures include a strict prohibition on unlicensed motorbikes and those without proper lighting. Riders are also barred from wearing smocks, which can be used to conceal weapons. The council has suspended the intertribal football competition indefinitely due to rising inter-ethnic tensions.

Security agencies will maintain a stronger presence in hotspots to prevent reprisals and ensure law and order. Dr. Amoakohene extended condolences to the late chief’s family and assured residents of the government’s commitment to pursuing justice. REGSEC urges calm and cooperation from residents as security operations intensify to restore lasting peace in the region.
