The number of jobs advertised in selected print and online media declined in 2025 compared with the previous year, signalling softer labour demand, according to the January 2026 Monetary Policy Report released by the Bank of Ghana.

A total of 2,615 job advertisements were recorded during the review period, down from 2,725 in the corresponding period of 2024, representing a year-on-year decrease of 4.0 percent.

On a month-on-month basis, vacancies also fell, with advertised jobs in December 2025 dropping by 4.8 percent from the 2,746 openings recorded in November 2025.

Cumulatively, the total number of advertised jobs for 2025 declined slightly to 35,546, compared with 35,810 in 2024.

Meanwhile, employment conditions showed some improvement based on data from the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT). The number of private sector contributors rose by 3.8 percent year-on-year to 1,111,627 in November 2025, up from 1,070,753 in the same period of 2024.

However, on a month-on-month basis, private sector SSNIT contributors dipped marginally from 1,117,118 individuals recorded in October 2025.

The mixed trends — declining job advertisements alongside rising pension contributors — suggest cautious labour market dynamics heading into 2026.
