A former Deputy General Secretary of the NDC, Samuel Koku Anyidoho, has called for the angry NDC foot soldiers to forgive National Chairman, Johnson Asiedu-Nketiah for his recent unacceptable comments vis-a-vis the Security Services recruitment.
In a post on X (formerly tweeter), Koku Anyidoho, in a rather magnanimous manner, pointed out that “to err is human and to forgive is divine” and so the National Chairman of the NDC must be pardoned for his “unfortunate statement”.
“The anger against him has been very strong and he is certainly feeling it that is why he is retracting so let’s forgive him” Koku Anyidoho said.
Commenting further, the post read: “let’s look at his many positives for the NDC and forgive him for the negative”.
Koku Anyidoho was deputy to Asiedu-Nketiah from 2014 – 2018, and the record has it that both men worked together as a solid team.
There was however a falling out after Koku Anyidoho contested Asiedu-Nketiah for the position on General Secretary.
Incontrovertible sources within the NDC state emphatically that it was Asiedu-Nketiah who gave Koku all the assurances that he would not contest the position of General Secretary for the fourth time – allowing Koku to pitch for the position.
However, Asiedu-Nketiah went back on his own promise and contested.
Apparently, Asiedu-Nketiah never forgave Koku Anyidoho for that hectic contest in 2018 and after that, decided to use his power as General Secretary to take a unilateral decision to suspend Koku (on some flimsy grounds ), without following any due process.
Koku Anyidoho has continued to insist that he remains a bona fide member of the NDC and that “… nobody can suspend me for no apparent reason”.
Indeed, all checks indicate that Koku Anyidoho never received any official correspondence from the NDC Headquarters regarding his supposed suspension.
As it is, it would have been expected that Koku would jump onto the bashing bandwagon of his former boss over the unfortunate statement that if the NDC recruits all the foot soldiers into the Ghana Police, “who would be the thieves for the police to catch”.
To the contrary, Koku Anyidoho’s statement positions him as an open-hearted person who speaks boldly to issues passionately, but holds no grudges.
With his graduation from the Trinity Theological Seminary and his recent open Church work, it is obvious that Samuel Koku Anyidoho is living by the “forgiving” standards of the Ministry of Jesus Christ.
The future will tell how Johnson Kwadwo Asiedu-Nketiah responds in equal magnanimous measure to the strong olive branch extended by his former deputy, Samuel Koku Anyidoho.
