Heavy downpours on Sunday, March 29, 2026, submerged several areas in Accra, disrupting daily activities and leaving residents stranded.

Ghanaian RADAR gathered that affected neighbourhoods included Dansoman, Weija, Kasoa Old Barrier, Mallam Junction, Kaneshie, Accra Central, Circle, and Dansoman Junction enclave, with floodwaters covering major roads and hindering movement.

Residents and commuters also faced tough times navigating through the submerged roads, with traffic congestion worsening in some areas. The intense rainfall overwhelmed drainage systems, triggering the flooding.

While there was no official word on casualties, some residents are worried about the recurring floods, especially during heavy rains.

Authorities have not released an official statement on the damage extent, as residents assess the impact on homes, businesses, and transport. This incident highlights Accra’s ongoing struggle with urban flooding, particularly in low-lying areas prone to waterlogging
