Forty pupils of Republic Road Junior High School in Tema Community Four have completed the final phase of a month-long Information and Communication Technology (ICT) boot camp, acquiring basic digital creation skills.

The programme, organised by Cermes Foundation Ghana, was delivered in four phases over the past month to ensure deeper learning and effective follow-up.

The final phase focused on a recap of spreadsheet applications, including Microsoft Excel operations, as well as introductory robotics, with sessions described as interactive and engaging.

Mr. Austin Awotwe, a Facilitator, took the pupils through practical lessons on the use of Excel, including its functions and components, and introduced them to basic robotics concepts, including simple design and creation processes.

He said since its commencement in March, the programme had trained the pupils using a practical, team-based approach, adding that activities included listing spreadsheet-related terms, answering questions, and completing structured exercises to reinforce learning.

Ms Ernestina Antwi-Boasiako, Administrator of the Cermes Foundation, expressed appreciation to the participants for their commitment throughout the training.

Ms Antwi-Boasiako encouraged the pupils to continue practising their skills using resources available on the foundation’s website and YouTube channel, which host educational content on programming and digital literacy.

Mr Mark Anibrika, ICT Coordinator for the Tema Metropolitan Assembly, who monitored all four phases of the programme, expressed satisfaction with the pupils’ progress and active participation.

To support effective learning, organisers provided materials, including laptops, to facilitate hands-on training.

The foundation is expected to replicate the phased training model in May this year to extend its impact to more pupils.
