The Ghana Police Service has interdicted seven of its personnel over an alleged extortion case involving a patrol team in Accra.

The officers are Inspector Courage Boateng, General Sergeant Stephen Addo, General Corporal Moses Anyravi, General Corporal Prosper Adiabo, General Lance Corporal Samuel Anolcye, General Constable Henrietta Coleman and General Constable Bernard Amoako.

According to the Service, the personnel allegedly demanded cash from a victim and later compelled him to withdraw the money from an Automated Teller Machine (ATM).

In a statement released on Wednesday, September 16, the Police said the interdiction will enable the Police Professional Standards Bureau (PPSB) to carry out a full probe into the claims.

The Service assured the public that the case will be thoroughly investigated and the necessary action taken based on the findings.
