The Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church Ghana, Professor Kwabena Asamoah-Gyadu, has publicly challenged comments made by the Minister of State for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, regarding the significance of LGBTQ issues in Ghana.
Speaking on JoyNews on Tuesday, April 7, Mr Kwakye Ofosu stated that LGBTQ concerns do not rank among the most pressing issues for Ghanaians.
However, in a response posted on Facebook the following day, Prof. Asamoah-Gyadu questioned the basis of the Minister’s assertion. “Which Ghanaians? So which Ghanaian is this minister referring to here?” he asked.
The Bishop also called for evidence to support the claim, noting the absence of credible data or public surveys on the issue.
“In any case, did we miss a poll on this issue? If your position has changed, just clarify. Don’t underestimate the public’s intelligence. Please be reasonable,” he wrote.
