Former Assin Central Member of Parliament, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has warned members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) against attempting to silence or discredit him, insisting that he will continue to speak out on issues of governance, accountability and corruption.

His comments come amid growing tensions within the party following criticism of his recent remarks about the failure of the NPP government to complete and operationalise the Afari Military Hospital during its eight years in office.

Agyapong expressed disappointment over the state of the facility, describing it as a lost opportunity to improve healthcare delivery for both military personnel and civilians. He argued that considering the resources invested in the project, the hospital should have been fully functional by now.

Speaking on Net 2 TV, the former NPP flagbearer aspirant dismissed claims that his criticisms were driven by bitterness over events surrounding the party’s internal campaign.

“The NPP says I am bitter. I will not say anything to them. They think it is about what they did during the campaign. They can’t shut me down. If Ghanaians want to know, they should ask them about Agenda 111, whether they were able to complete one. They sold the contracts to other people and took 10 per cent,” he alleged.

Agyapong cautioned party members against provoking him further, suggesting that he possesses information that could expose deeper issues within the political establishment.

“NPP should be careful with me, saying I am bitter. If they provoke me, I will spill the beans all over the place,” he warned.

The outspoken politician also alleged that the practice of selling public contracts and demanding kickbacks extends beyond a single political party, claiming that similar incidents have occurred in dealings linked to the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC).

“In the NDC, too, I was there when somebody brought a contract to my wife worth 55 million dollars. She was asked to pay an advance of 7 per cent before they would give it to her,” he claimed.

Agyapong maintained that corruption remains deeply rooted within Ghana’s political system and accused politicians of misleading the public. He stressed that he would not be intimidated into silence and would continue to speak out on issues he believes undermine the country’s development and governance.
