NPP 2028 flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has pledged to work with all members of the party, including those who lost in the recently concluded regional elections, to strengthen the party and secure victory in the 2028 general elections.

Dr Bawumia said the party’s internal elections should not become a source of division, urging members to put the contests behind them and unite behind the newly elected executives.

He made the remarks on Sunday, August 16, when the newly elected Greater Accra Regional executives paid a courtesy call on him at his office.

“I am open to work with everyone to ensure the party wins the 2028 elections,” Dr Bawumia said.

He urged candidates who emerged victorious in the various internal contests to be magnanimous in victory and extend their cooperation to those they defeated.

“This election is over. You had competitors, let us come together,” he said.

According to Dr Bawumia, unity would be a key factor in the NPP’s efforts to regain political power in 2028.

He acknowledged that significant work remained ahead following the party’s ongoing reorganisation exercise, which has so far included elections at the polling station, electoral area, constituency and regional levels.

The NPP’s national elections are scheduled for October 3.

Dr Bawumia said the completion of the reorganisation process would provide the party with the organisational structure required to mobilise effectively and prepare for the 2028 general elections.

He stressed that members must now focus on the party’s broader electoral objective rather than allow internal contests to create lasting divisions.

“If we are united, we will win the 2028 election because that is the key ingredient of victory,” he said.

He reiterated his readiness to collaborate with all sections of the party and called on the newly elected regional executives to work collectively towards rebuilding the NPP and positioning it for the next general election.
