The District Chief Executive (DCE) of Wassa East District Assembly, Mr. Alhassan Ibrahim, has led a team to plant more trees in the district as part of the Assembly’s efforts to promote and actively participate in the government’s Tree For Life Reforestation Initiative 2025.
The initiative, championed by the Ghana Forestry Commission, Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, and Ghana Education Service, started on Thursday, June 5, 2025, and will end on June 30, 2025. The national tree planting exercise aims to plant 30 million tree seedlings across the country.
The DCE, together with Daboase community members and Senior High School students, joined forces to plant more trees in the district. Mr. Ibrahim noted that the Tree For Life Initiative is a vital program for Ghana, emphasizing the need to reduce global warming through forestation and youth involvement.
He cautioned residents in the district and Ghana in general to desist from indiscriminate tree felling, stating, “I have dedicated my time to ensure the environment looks green.” Mr. Ibrahim added that planting trees would reduce air pollution and prevent natural disasters.
The DCE expressed his outfit’s commitment to tackling climate change, saying, “Today, I am proud to stand alongside you in this noble act of planting trees as part of the Tree for Life initiative.” He urged every student and community member to nurture the trees and embrace conservation.
According to the DCE, the impact of this initiative will stretch far beyond today, ensuring cleaner air, richer biodiversity, and a lasting legacy for generations to come. “Let’s continue to work together, support one another, and take bold steps toward a brighter future,” he advised.
