An Adenta Circuit Court has granted bail to a 53-year-old businessman, Amadou Mohammed, who is standing trial for allegedly defrauding a business partner of US$3.5 million.
Mohammed has pleaded not guilty to a charge of defrauding by false pretences.
According to prosecutors, the accused allegedly collected the money from the complainant in 2022 under the pretext of facilitating the shipment of an investment fund purportedly valued at US$400 million to Nigeria.
The prosecution told the court that Mohammed and the complainant were business partners at the time of the alleged transaction.
Following a bail application by counsel for the accused, the court admitted Mohammed to bail in the sum of GH¢400,000, with two sureties to be justified with landed property.
The court has adjourned the case to November 24, 2026, for further proceedings.
