The Ghanaian government has officially launched a fundraising initiative aimed at raising $30 million to support the Black Stars as they prepare for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The announcement was made by Thomas Nyarko Ampem, the Deputy Minister for Finance and Chairman of the Fundraising Subcommittee for the World Cup Ministerial Committee, during a high-profile event held at the Kempinski Hotel in Accra.
The $30 million fundraising goal is part of a larger strategy to ensure that Ghana’s national football team is equipped with the resources they need to excel at the world’s most prestigious football tournament.
The initiative is expected to secure funding for essential areas such as player welfare, team logistics, and overall preparation for the World Cup.
Speaking at the event, Nyarko Ampem emphasized the importance of a united effort in mobilizing the necessary resources for the Black Stars’ success, highlighting the crucial role of both corporate Ghana and international stakeholders in meeting the ambitious fundraising target.
The event was graced by key figures in both the government and football communities, including President John Dramani Mahama, Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku, and other influential dignitaries from across the country.
The gathering marked the official launch of the fundraising campaign, which aims to boost the morale of the players while ensuring they have the best possible preparation for the global stage.
“With the support of our corporate partners, private stakeholders, and international allies, we are confident that we can reach the $30 million target and give the Black Stars the resources they need to perform at their best,” said Nyarko Ampem.
