“Your SIM Will Link Automatically When You Change Phones” – Minister Assures

The Minister of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, has reassured Ghanaians that SIM registration and phone upgrades will be seamless, eliminating the need for manual updates.

Speaking on Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana on March 24, the Ningo-Prampram Member of Parliament explained the process in simple terms.

“The system is going to ask you to link. When you change your phone, what you do is link your SIM card to the new phone. The IMEI is taken automatically. Once the SIM is inserted in the phone and you go on the system, it will pull that out and delink your previous phone. You don’t have to do that manually. The CEIR takes care of that at the backend. Seamlessly. Seamlessly,” he said.

The Minister emphasized that this automated system ensures security and ease for mobile subscribers while strengthening the country’s telecommunications infrastructure.
