Former Dome-Kwabenya MP, Sarah Adwoa Safo, has told her brother, Israel Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena, not to interfere with the burial of their late father, Apostle Dr. Kwadwo Safo Kantanka.
Speaking on Eyewitness News on Citi FM on Tuesday, July 28, Adwoa Safo said the funeral plans have been cleared by the Manhyia Palace and will be held at Gomoa Mpota on Thursday, July 30.
She cautioned that any disruption by her brother or his allies would violate a bail bond requiring them to be of good conduct. “I want to remind him and his men that they are on bail, and that bail demands good behaviour,” she said.
The warning, she noted, also covers programmes set for Independence Square on July 31 and Prempeh Assembly Hall in Kumasi on August 8. “If he plans to show up at those places — Independence Square on the 31st, or Prempeh Assembly Hall in Kumasi on the 8th — to create chaos, he should remember he is bound to behave well,” she added.
Adwoa Safo further revealed she has asked security agencies for protection to guarantee the ceremonies go on without trouble. “We have notified all security agencies to deploy as many officers as possible so he and his men cannot come and attack me again, and this time, perhaps God may not intervene,” she said.
Her remarks come as disagreement continues over funeral arrangements for the founder of the Kristo Asafo Mission. While the Kristo Asafo Mission says it has not received official word on a confirmed burial date, Adwoa Safo maintained that all required approvals are in place and the events will go ahead as planned.
Apostle Dr. Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, founder of the Kristo Asafo Mission of Ghana and a well-known Ghanaian inventor and industrialist, passed away after years of religious leadership and work in local technology. The clash over his final rites has deepened divisions within the family.
