President John Dramani Mahama has emphasised innovation’s crucial role in transforming Ghana’s agriculture into a growth engine and prosperity driver.
Speaking at the Ghana AgroTech Fair 2026, March 17, themed “Transforming Agribusiness through Local Innovation”, he noted the event connects key sectors, linking ideas to enterprise and research to industry.
“Events like this showcase more than machinery; they bridge gaps, turning agriculture into a sector of opportunity and productivity,” he says. Mahama highlights agriculture’s broader economic impact, stressing it’s about value addition, industrial development, jobs, and exports.
He notes Africa often views agriculture narrowly, focusing on subsistence farming, but with proper structuring, it can drive transformation. Mahama commends organisers, urging modernisation of the entire value chain to unlock potential. “The future lies in modernizing agriculture, from farm to factory, production to global marketing,” he adds.
