Anas’ Tiger Eye PI Refutes Vitus Azeem’s Allegations Of Shelved Parliament Exposé

Tiger Eye PI, the investigative team led by journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas, has dismissed claims by Vitus Azeem, former Executive Director of Transparency International Ghana, suggesting that the group shelved investigations into Parliament.

In a statement released on Thursday, April 2, Tiger Eye PI described the allegations as “entirely false and contrived,” challenging Mr. Azeem to provide any evidence supporting his assertions.

The claims, according to Tiger Eye PI, misrepresent statements allegedly made by Anas and incorrectly suggest that certain Members of Parliament had access to unpublished investigations.

“Neither Anas nor any associate of Tiger Eye PI has ever made the assertions attributed to Mr. Azeem,” the statement read. “These claims remain entirely a figment of Mr. Azeem’s imagination.” The team urged Mr. Azeem to disclose the names of the supposed MPs involved if he has proof.

The statement acknowledged the public’s interest in parliamentary accountability but stressed that interest alone does not trigger an investigation.

Tiger Eye PI emphasised that investigative priorities are determined internally, based on resources, risks, and circumstances.

The organisation also warned that unverified claims from prominent figures could mislead the public and undermine the work of investigative journalists, including those who have made personal sacrifices for exposing corruption.

Tiger Eye PI concluded by reaffirming its commitment to fighting corruption and called on the public to recognise the risks and costs involved in investigative journalism.
