Asamoah Gyan Backs Black Princesses to Bounce Back After World Cup Exit

Ghana national teams and colts football brand ambassador Asamoah Gyan has urged the Black Princesses to remain confident about their future despite their early exit from the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Poland.

The Black Princesses were eliminated from the tournament after suffering a heavy 4-0 defeat to France in their final Group C match on Saturday, September 12.

Ghana had lost their opening group game before recovering with a victory over South Korea in their second match. However, the defeat to France left the team with three points from three matches and brought their campaign to an end.

Despite the disappointing result, Gyan praised the players for their efforts and encouraged them to remain focused on their development.

Speaking to the team after their elimination, the former Black Stars captain reminded the players that their careers still offered plenty of opportunities.

“There are more opportunities. I know some of you will be asking yourselves, ‘Where do we go from here? What are we going to do?’ But I can assure you that nobody knows tomorrow,” he said.

Gyan urged the players to continue working hard in training, maintain their confidence and remain hopeful about what lies ahead.

“Just have faith in yourself. Keep on doing your training. Keep your faith high. And I’m sure the future is bright because of the way you’ve performed from day one till now; nobody can say anything bad. But we didn’t get the result we wanted.”

The former Ghana captain also encouraged the players to use the disappointment as motivation to improve and return stronger in future competitions.

“We are out, but we are not done. From here, we think about ourselves. We think about how we are going to come back stronger.”

Gyan’s message comes as the Black Princesses reflect on their World Cup campaign and look ahead to the next stage of their development.
