Majority Leader and Bawku Central Member of Parliament Mahama Ayariga is scheduled to appear before Parliament’s Appointments Committee on Thursday, August 27, 2026, to be vetted over his nomination as Minister-designate for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs.
Mr Ayariga has been invited to appear before the committee at 9:00 a.m. at Committee Rooms 1 and 2 of the Administration Block of Parliament House in Accra.
The invitation, signed by Principal Assistant Clerk and Clerk to the Appointments Committee, Eunice K. Abeka, congratulated Mr Ayariga on his nomination and outlined the documentation and other requirements he must complete ahead of the exercise.
He has been directed to submit copies of his Curriculum Vitae, with each page duly signed, together with a Tax Clearance Certificate issued by the Ghana Revenue Authority.
The documents are to be submitted to the Governance Cluster Secretariat by Tuesday, August 26.
Mr Ayariga is also required to provide an electronic copy of his CV to the Appointments Committee and submit the names of up to 20 guests who will attend the public vetting.
The committee indicated that security clearance had been obtained for a maximum of 20 guests to observe the proceedings.
The vetting forms part of Parliament’s consideration of President John Dramani Mahama’s latest ministerial nominations following the reshuffle.
During the exercise, members of the Appointments Committee are expected to scrutinise Mr Ayariga’s professional and political experience, competence and suitability to lead the Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs Ministry.
The committee’s assessment will form part of the process leading to Parliament’s decision on whether to approve his nomination.
Mr Ayariga’s appearance before the committee comes as Parliament considers several ministerial changes announced by President Mahama, following the recall of the House from recess for a five-day sitting.
