Parliament was thrown into chaos on Tuesday, November 3, after Speaker Alban Bagbin ordered Damongo MP Samuel Abu Jinapor out of the chamber, prompting the Minority to walk out in protest.
The drama unfolded during a debate on the issuance of diplomatic passports, which fall under the authority of the Foreign Affairs Minister.
Jinapor claimed he had proof that diplomatic passports were being traded for between $10,000 and $50,000, and demanded a probe into the alleged racket.
Majority Leader James Agalga pushed back, insisting the MP either back his claim with evidence or pull it back.
Speaker Bagbin then directed Jinapor to produce proof or withdraw the statement.
The Damongo MP stood his ground, sparking a heated back-and-forth with the Speaker.
Though Jinapor later withdrew the allegation after the long standoff, Bagbin still ordered the Marshal of Parliament to remove him from the chamber for failing to comply on time. The Minority caucus immediately staged a walkout in solidarity with their colleague.
