New Patriotic Party (NPP) Flag-bearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has urged members of the party to put internal contests behind them and unite for victory in the 2028 general elections.
Addressing party members after the swearing-in of newly elected national executives at Baba Yara Stadium on October 4, Dr Bawumia said all factions that emerged during the internal elections must be dissolved.
“Elections are over. All the camps will dissolve and let us have one NPP camp and go and win 2028,” he stated.
According to him, unity was the only path to reclaiming power and called on all members to bury their differences and work together.
“Let us all understand that winning 2028 is about unity. Unity in this party will give us victory. Let us come together to work,” he said.
Dr Bawumia also consoled unsuccessful candidates in the national executive elections, telling them their loss was not the end.
“You did not lose. The NPP won,” he said, assuring that all contestants would be part of the party’s 2028 campaign.
He noted that delegates had given the new leadership a clear mandate to return the party to power and said work must start immediately.
“There is no time to waste. Day one, this week, by the grace of God, we should all meet and begin the process of getting to the 2028 election,” he stressed.
Dr Bawumia added that winning 2028 would require extra effort from all party members.“We must work harder. And let us all start this week by meeting and putting our strategies together to capture power in 2028,” he said.
