The Council of Ewe Associations of North America (CEANA) has elected a new slate of leaders headed by President Mr. William Kumah, according to a communique released at the conclusion of its landmark 32nd Annual Convention.
The election, a central outcome of the week-long gathering under the theme “Our Health, Our Wealth,” positions the diaspora organization to advance an ambitious agenda focused on healthcare, education, and infrastructure projects in Eweland.
The convention, hosted by the Ewe Association of Dallas from August 28 to September 1 at the Sheraton DFW Airport Hotel, served as a powerful nexus of cultural celebration and strategic action. The communique detailed a vibrant event that united Ewe communities from across North America, Europe, and West Africa, blending traditional performances with robust fundraising and planning sessions.

The newly elected executive board for the 2025-2028 term, introduced in the communique, includes: President – Mr. William Kumah; 1st Vice President – Mrs. Penny Akpene Ametepi, and; 2nd Vice President – Mr. Vincent Hamenu Kosi.
They take the reins from the outgoing administration of Dr. Tsatsu E. Nyamadi, who was credited in the communique with leaving the organization on “solid ground.”

In his final address, Dr. Nyamadi highlighted transformative achievements, including the completion of a Kindergarten building in Ghana, a Computer Library in Togo, and the awarding of over 500 scholarships since 2002.
The communique also outlined the new leadership’s mandate to pursue upcoming projects: the renovation of a Community Library at Anloga, a Medical Laboratory at Agotime Akpokope, and a Library Complex at Anfoeta-Tsibi in Ghana’s Volta Region.

The convention’s keynote speaker, Dr. Kenneth Afenya, a nephrologist, expanded on the theme, urging a holistic view of community well-being. The communique quoted his call for CEANA to “advocate for policies that bring healthcare and resources to our communities.”
The event was graced by representatives from Ghana’s Parliament, who commended CEANA’s development work. The gathering culminated in the official handover of the hosting mandate to the Ewe Association of Washington, D.C., Metro Area Inc., which will host the 33rd Annual Convention in 2026.
The CEANA 2025 communique ends by extending “heartfelt gratitude to all attendees, donors, and volunteers whose contributions made this event a resounding success.”
