The Ghana Chamber of Mines has commended the Government of Ghana and Atlantic Lithium Limited for the successful ratification of the Ewoyaa Mining Lease, describing the development as a major milestone in the country’s drive to harness critical mineral resources for sustainable economic growth.

The Chamber said the ratification marks a significant step toward strengthening Ghana’s mining sector and advancing industrial development through the Ewoyaa Lithium Project.

According to the Chamber, the project positions Ghana as an emerging key player in the global energy transition through the supply of critical minerals.

“The Ewoyaa Lithium Project represents a strategic addition to Ghana’s mining portfolio, positioning the country as an emerging key player in the global energy transition through the supply of critical minerals,” the statement noted.

The Chamber highlighted that the project is expected to generate substantial employment opportunities and stimulate economic activity in host communities, while contributing to national revenue, infrastructure development, and skills transfer.

Commenting on the development, Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Chamber of Mines, Ing. Dr. Kenneth Ashigbey, described the ratification as a landmark achievement.

“The ratification of the Ewoyaa Mining Lease is a landmark achievement that reinforces Ghana’s position as a leading mining jurisdiction in Africa. This project exemplifies how strategic partnerships between government and industry can unlock value, create jobs, and deliver long-term socio-economic benefits for our people,” he said.

While applauding the achievement, the Chamber urged the government to explore opportunities to enhance its participation and long-term value capture from the project.

It specifically recommended leveraging the Minerals Income Investment Fund (MIIF) to increase the state’s equity stake to ensure Ghana maximizes returns from its mineral resources for both present and future generations.

The Chamber also called on government to intensify investment in geological research and data development to improve investor confidence and support efficient identification and management of mineral resources.
