The Member of Parliament (MP) for Tolon, Alhaji Habib Iddrisu, has formally requested President John Mahama to provide an update on the investigation into the August 6, 2025, helicopter crash that claimed the lives of eight high-ranking government officials and military personnel.
In his letter dated October 27, 2025, Hon. Iddrisu cited Article 21(1)(f) of the 1992 Constitution and Section 18 of the Right to Information Act, 2019 (Act 989), which guarantee citizens’ right to access information of public interest.
The tragic incident occurred two months ago, resulting in the deaths of prominent figures, including Defence Minister, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, and Minister of Environment, Alhaji Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed.
Although the government announced the formation of an investigative committee on August 25, promising to release findings within 30 days, no report has been made public.
Hon. Iddrisu expressed concern over the lack of transparency and urged the President to provide a copy of the investigative report or an update on the probe. “The public deserves to know what led to this tragic loss of prominent figures and dedicated public servants,” he stated. If the full report is not yet ready, Iddrisu requested an interim update to demonstrate transparency and accountability.
The MP concluded his letter by expressing hope for a prompt response within the stipulated timeframe, emphasizing the need for transparency during this difficult time.
