The Office of the Attorney General has vehemently opposed an injunction application filed by suspended Chief Justice, Gertrude Torkonoo, seeking to halt proceedings aimed at removing her from office. The Attorney General’s Office argues that Torkonoo’s application is procedurally flawed and that relevant documents were made available to the appropriate parties.
The AG’s Office disputes Torkonoo’s claim that she wasn’t informed of the reasons behind the prima facie determination, stating that necessary documents were provided. It also asserts that Torkonoo followed an improper procedure by filing an injunction application instead of pursuing the correct channels to obtain documents.
Furthermore, the AG’s Office objects to Torkonoo’s request to bar committee members from hearing applications related to her removal. The office has prayed to the apex court to dismiss Torkonoo’s application.
