The Deputy Minister for Health, Prof. Dr. Grace Ayensu-Danquah, has lauded the launch of the Women in Medicine (WIM) Global Leadership Fellowship, describing it as a timely initiative that aligns with Ghana’s commitment to fostering leadership and promoting gender equality in the health sector.
Speaking at the All-Cohort Meeting 2026 in Accra, Prof. Ayensu-Danquah emphasized that the fellowship offers emerging women healthcare professionals a unique platform to develop critical leadership, communication, and research skills essential for driving reforms and enhancing service delivery.
She highlighted that the fellowship’s comprehensive curriculum addresses leadership development, project implementation, resource management, and evidence-based decision-making.

The nine-month, part-time WIM Global Leadership Fellowship targets passionate women in healthcare across low- and middle-income countries, equipping early- and mid-career professionals with the knowledge, skills, and networks necessary to assume leadership roles and advance gender equality in their healthcare systems.
Prof. Ayensu-Danquah urged eligible Ghanaian health professionals to seize this opportunity to strengthen their capacities and contribute meaningfully to the nation’s healthcare sector.
