The National Communications Authority (NCA) has confirmed that Multichoice Ghana, the operator of DStv, has formally responded to the government’s notice of intention to suspend its authorisation due to a pricing dispute.
Barring any hitches, a Stakeholder Committee, established to review DStv pricing, will hold its inaugural meeting today, September 8, 2025.
This development follows a warning from the Minister for Communications, Digital Technology, and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, that the government would shut down DStv operations on September 6, 2025, if the company failed to engage in price reduction discussions.
Multichoice Ghana had rejected claims of agreeing to slash subscription prices but expressed commitment to dialogue.
In a press statement issued Sunday, September 7, 2025, the NCA stated that Multichoice Ghana has agreed to participate in the Stakeholder Committee and evaluate DStv pricing.
According to the statement, the outcome of the committee’s review will determine the next steps.
“Multichoice has confirmed its commitment to respect due process, as well as the laws of Ghana and its people,” the statement stated.
The talks aim to address concerns over DStv’s pricing model, with the committee’s work expected to shed more light on the issue.
The company’s commitment to due process and the laws of Ghana has been reaffirmed, and further updates will be provided in due course, the statement concluded.
