The Ministry of Energy and Green Transition has announced a major breakthrough in the investigation into the missing Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) containers. A committee set up to probe the matter has successfully traced 2,637 containers, more than double the initial figure of 1,300 reported missing in March 2025.
According to Richmond Rockson, Head of Communications at the Ministry, the investigation was launched due to conflicting figures. The team initially identified 3,000 uncleared containers at the port, but the new Energy Minister was informed that around 2,500 were pending clearance. “The minister ordered an investigation to determine the actual number of missing containers,” Rockson explained.
The probe revealed that 2,637 containers were involved, with 2,583 confirmed to be in the possession of port authorities. Rockson emphasized that the investigation was crucial in reconciling discrepancies and providing an accurate account of ECG’s inventory. He hinted that further discoveries may follow, stating that if the investigation continues, more containers may be found.
