The Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has directed the Ghana Education Service (GES) to urgently reassess how Basic Examination Certificate Examination (BECE) question papers are transported to examination centres, following delays that disrupted candidates.
The order stems from an incident on Monday, May 4, at the Boako examination centre, where late arrival of question papers affected 273 candidates from nine schools, pushing back the start of their exam.
When the minister arrived, answer booklets had already been distributed, but supervisors, invigilators, and students were still awaiting the questions—while other centres had begun 15 minutes earlier.
Mr. Haruna Iddrisu instructed the GES Director-General to collaborate with WAEC on immediate logistics reforms. “Candidates should be seated 15 minutes before the exam, yet we have answer sheets here without question papers. We must urgently change the distribution process,” he said.
