The Managing Director of GIHOC Distilleries Company Limited, Maxwell Kofi Jumah, is now in the custody of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) following his arrest earlier this week.
Ghanaian Radar learned that EOCO officers apprehended him on Tuesday, April 28, after conducting a search of his private residence in Kumasi days earlier.
He remains under detention as the agency continues its inquiries. Persons with knowledge of the case say Jumah’s arrest is linked to an ongoing investigation into possible violations of public financial management regulations. The probe is focused on how certain state funds and assets were managed during his time at the helm of the state-owned distillery.
Investigators are reportedly examining a series of transactions and administrative decisions taken under his leadership to determine whether laid-down procedures were breached. EOCO has not yet released formal charges, and further details are expected as the investigation progresses. The case remains active.
