The National Communications Authority (NCA) has notified the public of a service disruption that affected subscribers of MTN Ghana in parts of the Greater Accra Region on Saturday.
The incident disrupted both voice and data services in several areas, causing inconvenience to customers.
In a press release issued on Saturday, March 28, 2026, the NCA disclosed that it received “official notification from MTN Ghana regarding a network incident which affected 57 2G, 57 3G and 57 4G sites, as well as fixed fibre broadband services in some areas.”
The affected enclaves included areas around Lister Hospital and Klagon, Baatsona and Trassaco.
MTN Ghana attributed the disruption to infrastructure damage, explaining that it was “caused by cuts to three of its transmission fibre cables, resulting in service degradation and interruptions for customers within the affected areas.”
The NCA indicated that some progress has been made in restoring services, noting that “the fault affecting the Lister Hospital area has been resolved and services have been restored,” while repair works continue in other locations.
“The NCA will continue to engage MTN Ghana to monitor the situation and ensure service stability for affected subscribers,” the statement added.
The Authority further expressed appreciation to consumers for their patience, assuring that it “remains committed to safeguarding the quality, reliability and continuity of telecommunications services across the country.”
