Two separate fire outbreaks in the Greater Accra Region have destroyed residential and commercial properties, causing significant losses but leaving no reported casualties.
The incidents occurred in Nungua and Odorkor Official Town in the Krowor and Ga Central municipalities on Thursday, August 6, 2026.
According to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), the first fire was reported at about 3:38 a.m. along Old Kasapreko Road in Nungua.
A metal container being used for commercial purposes had been engulfed in flames by the time firefighters arrived at 3:53 a.m.
The firefighting team brought the blaze under control at about 4:00 a.m., preventing it from spreading to nearby properties.
However, the container and all its contents were completely destroyed. The GNFS said no items were salvaged from the scene.
No injuries or fatalities were recorded.

Three homes destroyed at Odorkor
A second fire broke out at Odorkor Official Town near Adi Junction at about 2:08 a.m. on the same day.
Firefighters arrived at the scene at approximately 2:27 a.m. and found flames spreading through several wooden structures.
Three wooden residential structures, along with the personal belongings of their occupants, were destroyed.
Another wooden structure being used as a storeroom for a mechanic’s workshop was also completely gutted by the fire.
The blaze posed a threat to several adjoining wooden structures, but firefighters managed to contain it before it could spread further and cause additional damage.
No injuries or deaths were reported in the Odorkor incident.
The GNFS said the cause of the Odorkor Official Town fire is currently under investigation.
Authorities have not yet disclosed the cause of the Nungua fire.
The two incidents have renewed concerns about fire safety in densely populated communities, particularly areas with wooden structures and properties located close to one another.
