A fire outbreak at the Spintex Coastal Junction has destroyed more than 27 wooden structures and their contents following an incident early Tuesday morning.

The fire reportedly started at about 6:20 a.m. and quickly spread through the wooden structures, causing extensive damage before firefighters brought the situation under control.

According to ADO I Kojo Poku, who reported from the scene, more than 27 structures were destroyed in the blaze. A church and an adjoining building were also affected.

Firefighters battle blaze

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) deployed two fire appliances from nearby stations to fight the fire.

A private water tanker also assisted the operation by supplying additional water to support the firefighting efforts.

After several hours of operations, firefighters successfully brought the blaze under control and eventually extinguished it at approximately 9:22 a.m.

The extent of the damage is still being assessed, while the cause of the fire remains unknown.

GNFS urges public to observe fire safety

The GNFS has urged the public to take fire safety precautions and remain vigilant, particularly in areas where wooden structures and other combustible materials are concentrated.

The Service also encouraged members of the public to report fire outbreaks immediately to enable emergency responders to intervene before fires spread and cause further destruction.
