Fuel prices in Ghana are expected to increase starting July 1, 2025, according to projections by the Chamber of Oil Marketing Companies (COMAC). Petrol prices may rise by 2%, while diesel prices could jump by 5%. Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) is also expected to see a 1% price hike.
COMAC’s Chief Executive, Dr. Riverson Oppong, revealed this at a news conference in Accra, stating that their projections indicate price increases even before the implementation of the amended Energy Sector Levy, which has been suspended. “Even before the implementation of the amended Energy Sector Levy which has been suspended, our projections indicate that pump prices may be going up,” he said.
Dr. Oppong added, “I can say petrol is likely to go up by 2 per cent, LPG may witness a little above 1 per cent and Diesel will likely increase by 5 percent. This is after taking all factors into consideration, including NPA price build-ups.”
This price increase would mark the first time fuel prices have risen at the pumps since February 2025. COMAC is calling for a review of the petroleum downstream sector regulations to ensure cost-effective operations.
