The newly appointed Chief of Army Staff, Major General Lawrence Kwaku Gbetanu, has embarked on a nationwide tour to boost operational readiness and engage with frontline troops. During a recent visit to the Northern Command Headquarters in Tamale, General Gbetanu underscored the importance of staying vigilant and prepared to defend the nation against all threats.
“I’ve been visiting various army units across the country to assess their operational capabilities and connect with our troops on the ground,” he explained. “These visits enable me to understand their challenges and motivate them to remain committed to protecting our nation,” he said.
As part of his visit, General Gbetanu inspected key military installations, including the 6th Infantry Battalion and the Army Special Operations Training School (ASOTS) in Daboya. He also paid a courtesy visit to the Overlord of Dagbon, Ya-Naa Abukari II, to foster stronger civil-military relations.
General Gbetanu reiterated the Ghana Armed Forces’ commitment to national defense and counterterrorism efforts. “We’re fully prepared to respond to any threat, whether external or internal,” he assured. “Our troops are strategically deployed across the country, and we’re ready to defend our nation at all times.”
