Ghana’s farming industry is poised for a significant uplift as Degas Limited, a worldwide leader in AI-powered agribusiness solutions, has pledged a $100 million investment in the nation over the next four years.
President John Dramani Mahama revealed this in Yokohama, Japan, following talks with Degas Limited’s CEO and founder, Doga Makiura. The project seeks to establish Ghana as a center for AI-enhanced agriculture by implementing state-of-the-art tech to boost output, fortify supply chains, and generate new employment opportunities.
Degas Limited has already made a mark in Ghana’s farming landscape, aiding over 86,000 small-scale farmers across 122,000 acres. Using its groundbreaking finance model, the firm has doubled farmer earnings while keeping a 95% repayment rate. The fresh investment will roll out sophisticated AI tools like satellite tracking and precision farming systems to streamline input allocation, enhance on-farm decision-making, and connect farmers directly to markets.
In a Facebook post on Friday, August 22, 2025, President Mahama noted the initiative will strengthen food security and spur youth job creation in agriculture. “This is a strong vote of confidence in Ghana’s vision for integrated, technology-enabled agriculture—and we are ready to deliver,” part of the statement read. The collaboration highlights Ghana’s dedication to upgrading farming as part of its wider economic restructuring plan.
