The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has stated that its peacekeepers in southern Lebanon were maintaining high morale despite a recent missile strike on their base as part of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL).
In a statement from the GAF Department of Public Relations at General Headquarters, Burma Camp, it was noted that four soldiers were hurt when their battalion headquarters was hit.
Three soldiers suffered slight injuries, while one was seriously hurt, but has undergone surgery and is recovering well, with all four currently stable. The GAF also reports that 14 officers whose living quarters were destroyed have been equipped, rehoused, and supported.
“The Battalion remains undaunted and morale is high despite the incident,” the statement said. The GAF thanked the public for their support following the attack. “The Ghana Armed Forces extends sincere appreciation to the public for their ongoing solidarity,” it added.
The statement was issued by Naval Captain Veronica Adzo Arhin, Acting Director General of Public Relations for the Ghana Armed Forces.
