In a significant move to empower law enforcement, the Ghana Police Service has taken delivery of 40 new armored vehicles aimed at boosting its operational strength and improving public security nationwide.
The official handover was conducted on Thursday, December 4, with President John Mahama leading the ceremony alongside key government figures and top police commanders.
Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Christian Tetteh Yohunu, addressing personnel at the event, pledged that the fleet would be allocated with tactical precision and maintained to the highest standards. He extended the Service’s deep appreciation to the government for its supportive focus on police resources and welfare.
“The government has our sincere gratitude for prioritizing our needs. We assure that these vehicles will be deployed strategically and kept in optimal condition to fully meet their purpose,” stated the IGP.
The gathering included President John Dramani Mahama, Interior Minister Muntaka Mubarak, and senior police officials, underscoring a consolidated commitment to equipping the nation’s security agencies.
IGP Yohunu highlighted that the advanced mobility assets would greatly improve the Police Service’s responsiveness to crises, its role in safeguarding neighborhoods, and its overall enforcement of peace and order.
He further charged officers to employ the resources judiciously and to remain steadfast in their duty to defend citizens and property throughout Ghana.
