The Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has assured Parliament that the government was prepared to send Sandra Baafi Boateng, a victim of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) recruitment exercise stampede, abroad for specialised treatment if medical professionals deem it necessary.
Speaking in Parliament on March 9, Mr. Akandoh provided an update on Baafi Boateng’s condition, saying the Ministry of Health was working with the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital to ensure she receives top-notch care.
Baafi Boateng suffered severe injuries during the November 12, 2025, recruitment exercise at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium. Her medical bills are fully covered by the government, and she has been receiving treatment at the 37 Military Hospital since February 26, 2026. The government is exploring all options, locally and internationally, to ensure her recovery.
