The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has cautioned the public to desist from assaulting its staff, warning that anyone who attacks or blocks its officers from performing their lawful duties will face the full force of the law.
The caution comes after some officers were reportedly attacked at Jamila Home at Westlands in Accra on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, during a VAT enforcement exercise.
The Authority has since invited a worker of Jamila Home to help with investigations into the alleged incident.
Addressing journalists after visiting the facility, the Accra Central Area Enforcement Manager of the GRA, Joseph Annang, said the Authority will not tolerate any form of attack on its personnel and will ensure the law takes its course.
He said officers operate under the authority of the Commissioner General, and any assault on them amounts to an attack on the Commissioner General himself, which will not be taken lightly.
“We will not stand by and watch this happen. If you assault us, we will respond with equal force within the law. This should serve as a warning,” he stated.
Mr. Annang added that while the GRA remains customer-friendly and seeks to maintain good relations with taxpayers, it will not hesitate to act decisively when its officers are attacked in the line of duty.
