Harley Reed, a leading international professional services firm, has organised a Capacity Building training on Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) & Sustainability Reporting for journalists and editors from top-tier media organisations in Ghana.
The one-day training seeks to enhance the capacity of journalists and media professionals to effectively understand, analyse, and report on ESG and sustainability issues.
Globally, ESG-driven economies have proven more resilient, socially cohesive, and attractive to investors, while many organisations in Ghana are beginning to align with global ESG standards, there remains a significant gap in how these issues are communicated to the public. It is against this background that Harley Reed has organised this training to empower journalists and editors to be instrumental in stimulating a national conversation around ESG and sustainability reporting.
Dorcas Aba Annan, Group Manager, Marketing and Communications reiterated that Harley Reed appreciates the crucial role journalists play in shaping informed narratives, but limited knowledge of ESG principles and reporting frameworks often leads to underreporting or misrepresentation of sustainability issues.
“We aim to promote informed media engagement that fosters accountability and supports Ghana’s move towards mandatory ESG reporting by 2027. We also believe that your participation and coverage will support the awareness creation around ESG and sustainability reporting,” she added.
Participants were engaged in interactive sessions, case studies, and practical exercises designed to build confidence in covering complex ESG topics.
The training brought together journalists and editors from leading media organizations across Ghana, including Media General, GhOne TV, Metro TV, Multimedia, Channel 247, Citi Fm, Daily Graphic, Ghanaian Times, Business & Financial Times (B&FT), Ghanaian Radar, The Herald, The Finder Newspaper, Ghana News Agency (GNA), and other freelance journalists.
This initiative reinforces Harley Reed Ghana’s commitment to promoting transparency, accountability, and sustainable business practices across multiple sectors.
The session was facilitated by Cima Sholotan, General Manager, Advisory Services, Harley Reed Nigeria. Other senior leaders in attendance included William Tagoe, Group CEO; Edith Uyovbukerhi, Country Director, Harley Reed Ghana; Dr. Stephen Hammond, General Manager, Harley Reed Ghana and Stephanie Akorli, Group Head, Knowledge Services.
