Renowned Ghanaian artist, Ibrahim Mahama, says his pursuit of action over alleged police assault is driven by the need for justice, not financial gain.
He made the remarks after meeting the Police Management Board (POMAB) on Thursday, March 26, to discuss the probe into claims of assault by the Inspector General of Police’s Special Task Force operating the “Black Maria”.
“We’re not looking for compensation. There’s no way we’re looking for money. Obviously, I don’t need that. It’s not about that. It’s more just about justice,” Mahama stated.
He wants the circumstances of the incident fully understood and those responsible held accountable.”We just want to make sure people understand what transpired that day. We are in a democracy, and we want to understand what’s happening and see how we can solve it,” he added.
Mahama believes pursuing justice in such cases boosts public confidence in institutions and ensures citizens feel protected and heard.”So that when other people are elsewhere, and things like this happen, at least they’re assured that in the country they live in, their matter will be taken seriously and there’ll be some kind of justice,” he said
