Seven police officers in Tema have been promoted for what authorities describe as exceptional bravery and professionalism during a recent anti-robbery operation.
The Inspector General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, approved the promotions on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, in recognition of the officers’ role in responding to a robbery attack on a Mobile Money vendor at Tema Community 5.
The operation led to the shooting of two robbery suspects and the recovery of a firearm, ammunition, and other exhibits, according to the Police.
The officers elevated to the next rank are Chief Inspector Enoch Nartey Nuer, Inspector Gershon Dekpey, Inspector Prince Asante, Sergeant Lukman Mohammed, Sergeant Eugene Kuudouru, Corporal Jerome Akator, and Lance Corporal Jonathan Sewurah.

At a brief ceremony, the IGP, together with members of the Police Management Board (POMAB), commended the officers for their courage, discipline, and commitment to duty, describing their actions as exemplary.
He urged them to see their promotions not just as a reward, but as a call to greater responsibility in their service to the nation.
The Police Chief also encouraged other personnel within the Service to remain dedicated and professional in the discharge of their duties, particularly in efforts to combat armed robbery and ensure public safety.
The latest promotions underscore what the Police leadership says is its commitment to recognising and rewarding operational excellence within the Service.
